When I first started working at Mimeo, one of the first projects I was handed was a Scribd integration with Mimeo APIs, this project was internally called “Nimbus”. It allowed anyone to print a document from Scribd to Mimeo using a two step process to build and order each PDF. Unfortunately when Scribd updated to HTML5 they abandoned this functionality.

Aviary Launches Photo Editor for Mobile

Aviary added a whole new mobile photo editing SDK to their already robust image platform that allows photo editing for all iPhone and Android apps! This allows you to enable photo editing directly in your application workflow, allowing users to take a photo that they've uploaded and crop, remove red-eye, or add filters.  Users don't have to leave your app to manage their photo, they can just edit it and save to their camera roll.

Mimeo Connect at Cloud Expo this Week

We are the the premier Cloud Computing event, Cloud Expo at the Santa Clara Convention Center this week. Cloud computing has truly gone mainstream at this event in its 9th year. There is talk from all the leading tech companies Oracle, IBM and Intel about how the future is all about clouds. So far all the sessions I've attended talk about migrating of classic business resources into the cloud such as computing, storage, telephony and beyond.

Print on Demand Coupon Books

I just added a new entry to the Mimeo Idea Showcase. It is an idea for personalized, print-on-demand coupon books. This idea comes from my co-worker Heath. His thoughts are: Seems like a subscription service to pick the stores near you have coupon books printed and delivered from a site like Coupon Cabin, would be pretty cool. A rare case where the printed pages have true monetary value.

Print App Idea: Gmail and Google PDF Search Binder

I just added a new idea to the Mimeo Connect idea showcase called, "Build a Binder from a PDF Search". It is an idea for an application that would allow anyone to build a binder, or other bound document from a search of PDF documents. Two main areas I could see allowing users to search: Gmail - Allow users to search their Gmail account for emails with attachments and if they are a PDF or other convertable document, allow them to add it to a queue to be printed as a binder.

Printing From Microsoft Office Web Apps Using Mimeo Connect

I have been printing from Google Apps using Google Cloud Print for a while. Now I’m turning my attention to a wide range of cloud storage solution, including Windows Live SkyDrive, which is the same storage that is behind Microsoft Office Web Apps and Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft’s web-based version of the Microsoft Office productivity suite.

Top 12 Image and Photo Sharing Platforms with APIs

There 120 photo APIs listed in the ProgrammableWeb API directory. I went through all 120 looking for APIs that would add value to users of the Mimeo Connect printing API, as well as photo and image sites that would benefit from Mimeo as well. We are evolving our photo printing offerings at Mimeo. Currently we offer poster, card and photo book printing, but do not have standardized photo print offerings that many people ask for.

Zenfolio Photo API

The Zenfolio Photo API is available for third-party development of software applications, plug-ins, utilities, and tools interfacing with the Zenfolio professional photo service. The Zenfolio Photo API enables browsing through user photos, batch download photos and uploading a photo to a users Zenfolio account. The Zenfolio Photo API uses plain-text and challenge-response authentication, with read and write access to all the photos on the platform.
